FEATURED TRANSFORMATION

From Workplace Conflict & Isolation to Effective Communication,
Self-Confidence, and Improved Patient Satisfaction

The Leader's Perspective

"I was astounded by [Ally's] positive change in posture, facial expression, body language, confidence, and tone."

Annie has been coaching an APP that had been struggling with integration with a difficult peer group, appropriately communicating with her team and patients, and suboptimal patient satisfaction scores.

I recently had an opportunity to observe this APP and was astounded by the positive change in posture, facial expression, body language, confidence, and tone.

This APP even expressed that these coaching sessions improved her feelings of job satisfaction and helped her in personal interactions as well. She said that if she did not have Annie’s help, she would have most certainly left the organization because of feelings of powerlessness and being outcast by the group.

The Coachee's Perspective

"I realized you don’t have to change your personality in order to change the impact of your communication."

When we first connected, I was struggling with difficult workplace relationships and feeling constantly tense and defensive around certain coworkers. If that person even came near me, my whole body would feel tense and ready to arm for a battle.

Through coaching, I learned how to stay calm and not reactionary — to really stay out of the fight. I realized I didn’t have to change my personality in order to change the impact of my communication.

It’s easy to see now, but at first it didn’t make sense to me how the same sentence could land differently just because my internal state had changed. But it really is true.

The same person and the same words can feel completely different once we resolve that survival response.

The Patients' Perspective

"Our department results have been outstanding, as evidenced by consistently rising engagement scores from both providers and staff."

We had a very disengaged team. People were negative, not collaborative, there was lack of communication, and significant team conflict.

Annie helped frame conflict resolution with practical tools on how to prepare for difficult situations. She provided a Conflict Resolution Planner, taught leaders how to use it, and created role-play scenarios that really grounded people in its use.

The climate assessment gave leaders concrete examples of what people were feeling and true guidance to help us change our approach, become more inclusive, and put actionable behavior change into practice.

I have been able to create trust within our team and an environment where people are able to constructively discuss conflict with a shared end goal.

Our department results have been outstanding, as evidenced by consistently rising engagement scores from both providers and staff.

Neil and his department's physician chair engaged Dr. Annie for consultation, a climate assessment, focused action plan, departmental training, and physician leadership team retreat facilitation, to transform the culture of their department.

"The employees were able to calmly resolve their differences and heal the resentments that had been brewing for six years."

When Annie facilitated conflict resolution between two of my employees [OR nurses], she provided wonderful support and guidance through a difficult situation.

As she led the meeting, she stayed engaged, calm, deliberate and supportive of each employee.

The employees were able to calmly resolve their differences and heal the resentments that had been brewing for six years! They walked away with new insight and ideas for personal growth.

As their leader, the meeting helped me tremendously by providing examples of how to support my staff.

"The methodologies Annie taught the team regarding managing negativity…were super helpful and applicable."

I initially approached Annie requesting coaching for our clinic practice managers regarding managing negativity among our teams (including managing both associates and providers).

Annie structured the session in a way that allowed everyone to participate and apply the principles learned. The methodologies she taught the team regarding managing negativity, and our reactions to how we manage such, were super helpful and applicable.

This activity proved extremely beneficial, not only in helping us learn new techniques and approaches to managing negativity, but also in providing time for our team to connect and build relationships with each other.

My team has already asked for another session with her!

"Annie’s demeanor brought calmness to my spirit from the moment we met that provided me the comfort to be fully transparent."

Annie has coached me through a number of vocational endeavors, as of late with career development/professional growth. Annie's demeanor brought calmness to my spirit from the moment we met that provided me the comfort to be fully transparent.

At times I would find myself sharing my jumbled thoughts that I was sure she'd question and ask for clarity and yet every time, Annie would respond with a sophisticated and thought-provoking, succinct response that I could resonate with.

Annie built upon our time together, reminding me of my strengths and how to leverage them, especially during challenging moments.

Tamara sought coaching while navigating significant professional growth and ultimately stepping into a Chief Officer role.

"I was able to let go of things that I can’t control and think about what I could do instead of what I couldn’t."

I was frustrated in my role and considering a transition, but it was hard to consider change while I was in such a negative space.

Annie helped me learn and apply new tools, especially those that connect my head (brain) to my body. She created a non-judgmental space and helped me reframe how I approach both the present and future.

I was able to let go of things I can’t control and redirect my energy toward what I could do instead. I feel much better about both my current situation and future opportunities thanks to Annie’s coaching.

Physician Leader

This physician leader transitioned into a Chief Officer role following executive coaching support.

"I  have gained greater confidence in
leading at the executive level and a stronger sense of presence when engaging with boards, peers, and staff."

When I began executive coaching, I was looking for support in building confidence and clarity as I considered a transition into broader executive leadership. I wanted to think and act strategically while also staying grounded in my authentic leadership style and presence.

Annie introduced me to techniques such as visualization and mindset reframing that allowed me to approach challenges with more openness and creativity. One exercise that has stayed with me is visualizing being by the water so I can carry that calm presence into high-stakes conversations and decisions.

Another valuable aspect of the process was identifying my core competencies, strengths to leverage, and areas where I should focus my development.

Combined with her frameworks for navigating complex conversations and aligning leadership approach with organizational strategy, I felt equipped with both clarity and confidence.

Through coaching, I gained greater confidence in leading at the executive level and a stronger sense of presence when engaging with boards, peers, and staff.

"I am actively shifting from a command and control approach to a coaching style of leadership."

Working with Annie has changed the way I think about leadership and management, resilience, self-care, relationships, communication and many other nuances in how I approach my work and life.

I have drastically modified the way I approach interpersonal relationships at work.

I am also actively shifting from a command and control approach to a coaching style of leadership in which my goal is to guide stakeholders towards a shared goal.

I have a strong sense of hope that I can be successful in moderating my emotions in the short term and become a stronger leader for the long term.

Spencer, Operations Director
Level II Trauma Center in Western US

Spencer sought coaching while serving in a director-level leadership role within a highly matrixed and politically complex health system. Following his coaching program, he was promoted into a Vice President role.

"I’m now able to remain patient and lead when an employee is reactive, and stay grounded in high-pressure meetings."

Working with Annie gave me something I rarely experience as a senior leader in healthcare: a cocoon of space to slow down, reflect, and receive.

Through our coaching sessions, my self-awareness and communication skills deepened in a practical, usable way. I developed more self-forgiveness around mistakes, more grace around perfectionism and performance expectations, and a steadier confidence that quieted my imposter syndrome (and helped me recognize and calm it much faster when it reappears).

The tangible, in-the-moment, tools & tactics Annie shared made a real difference. I’m now able to remain patient and lead when an employee is reactive, and stay grounded in high-pressure meetings, even when I feel rushed or don’t have all the answers.

Now, if I fumble my words or don’t have an answer on the spot, rather than internally panicking or criticizing myself for not having all the answers, I can pause and ask straightforward questions that share the responsibility and invite others’ perspectives.

This coaching helped me recognize that the ingredients for greatness are already present in me and in my team, which has been both grounding and freeing.
